Law in service of people, place, and shared prosperity.
About Shared Prosperity Law PLLC
Shared Prosperity Law is a Massachusetts-based law practice dedicated to helping individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations navigate complex legal challenges while advancing opportunity and strengthening communities.
The firm was founded on a simple principle: access to justice is an essential component of shared prosperity. Legal systems shape nearly every aspect of economic and civic life, from employment and housing to immigration, education, and community development. When people are unable to access effective legal counsel, entire communities are affected.
Shared Prosperity Law provides practical, client-centered representation and counsel with a focus on immigration, employment, civil matters, nonprofit and community-based organizations, and mission-driven projects. The firm seeks to combine high-quality legal advocacy with a broader commitment to economic opportunity, community well-being, and public service.
Whether representing an individual facing a critical legal challenge or advising organizations working to strengthen their communities, Shared Prosperity Law is guided by the belief that strong communities are built when people have access to opportunity, stability, and justice.
Jacob Miller
Founder & Attorney
Jacob Miller is an attorney, community development practitioner, and advocate dedicated to expanding opportunity in communities that have too often been kept-behind.
His legal practice focuses on immigration, employment, and civil matters, with a particular emphasis on providing accessible legal services to individuals, families, nonprofit organizations, and mission-driven institutions. Jacob has represented clients in state and federal courts, before administrative agencies, and in immigration proceedings throughout New England. His work has included securing the release of individuals from immigration detention, advocating for workers facing discrimination and retaliation, assisting families navigating complex legal systems, and providing strategic counsel to nonprofit and community-based organizations.
Jacob's career has spanned law, public policy, economic development, and community advocacy. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked in the Massachusetts State Senate, where he was the Senior Policy Advisor and Community Development Director in the Office of Senator Mark Montigny. That experience provided firsthand insight into the ways law, public policy, and community institutions shape economic opportunity and quality of life.
In addition to his legal practice, Jacob works at the intersection of law, economic development, and public policy. He has advised and supported initiatives focused on workforce development, housing, economic mobility, clean energy, and community investment, helping organizations develop strategies that strengthen local economies and expand opportunity.
Jacob has worked extensively with Tribal Nations, public agencies, educational institutions, businesses, and philanthropic organizations. His work has included advising offshore wind and energy development projects on Tribal engagement and cultural resource issues, developing partnerships between Tribal Nations and a major clean energy infrastructure developer, and helping secure funding for community-based initiatives focused on housing, workforce development, clean energy, and immigrant legal services. He currently advises major clean energy projects on Tribal engagement and relationship-building and is working alongside community foundations, educational institutions, employers, and nonprofit organizations to advance regional development initiatives in Massachusetts.
Throughout his career, Jacob has remained committed to the belief that legal advocacy and community development are deeply connected. Whether representing an individual client, advising a nonprofit organization, helping build regional partnerships, or supporting public-interest initiatives, his work is guided by a commitment to practical problem-solving, public service, and shared prosperity.
Jacob is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where he was recognized as a Truman Scholar. He later studied regional economic development in the United Kingdom as a Marshall Scholar, earning graduate degrees from the University of Cambridge and University College London. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth School of Law.
A first-generation college student, Jacob founded Shared Prosperity Law on the belief that strong communities depend on access to justice, economic opportunity, and institutions that work for everyone.
Jacob lives in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts with his partner and their dog, Lily.
